Edna Lumber Co Inc was originally started as a small family business in 1947. It began as a retail building materials business with a small construction division. The business experienced steady growth for the next 20 years until it was incorporated in 1967. The business continually grew and in May 1995, the retail operation was sold in order to concentrate its efforts on the construction division. The company was purchased by Darrell Atkinson in 1998 and the dba Atkinson & Associates Builders was created. This is the business name that the company operates under today.

Atkinson & Associates Builders prides itself in partnering with our client to deliver service that can be matched by no other company. We have been able to offer our services, not only locally, but in multiple states through the southern United States. Our success stems from the hard work, determination, and persistence that are evident in all Atkinson & Associates Builders employees.

Darrell Atkinson

President

Darrell has been in the construction industry since 1978. He is the sole proprietor of Atkinson & Associates Builders and actively serves as a Project Manager. He oversees all projects incorporating quality control by implementing routine site inspections. Darrell has realized many projects such as municipal projects, multi-family and single family residential projects, and commercial projects. The commercial projects have been his greatest achievement specifically in the fast food restaurant industry. Having directly managed the construction of many restaurants over the entire southern United States, provides him with a unique insight to all facets of the construction process. Darrell is presently the president of Atkinson & Associates Builders and maintains an active role in day to day decisions of the company

Martin Hill

Vice President

Martin has been in the construction industry since 1978. He holds a degree in Construction Building Inspections from the University of California – Irvine. He joined Atkinson & Associates Builders is June of 1996 and has been a tremendous asset to the company. In his role as project manager, he has allowed our company to grow through effectively managing estimating and purchasing while maintaining project budgets and schedules to keep our emphasis on fast-track projects both in new construction and commercial remodeling. Martin is presently the Vice-President and is accountable for the construction aspects of the projects and also provides support to related departments.

Shelton Grona, P.E.

Vice President

Shelton has been involved in the construction industry since 1987. In 1995, he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University and in February, 2001, he received his Professional Engineer’s license. Shelton has designed multiple projects ranging from municipal wastewater treatment plants to residential dwellings. He is currently licensed to perform inspections for the Texas Department of Insurance, Windstorm Inspection Division. Shelton is a project manager with the skills and background that allows him to be an asset to the client in the early developmental stages of the project and provides essential support through the project closure.

Steve Blanchard

Corporate Secretary

Steve has been involved in the construction and design industry since 1981. He holds a degree in Drafting Technology from Wharton County Junior College and a degree in Industrial Technology from Sam Houston State University. Steve has 14 years of design and drafting experience at a major civil engineering firm. He joined Atkinson and Associates Builders in December of 1998 as an estimator and has been working as an Assistant Project Manager responsible for ensuring that the estimating, purchasing and day to day construction activities are being effectively accomplished.

Lisa Spring

Corporate Treasurer

Lisa has been in construction since 1988. She attended Wharton County Junior College where she studied Drafting. Lisa has been a member of our team since July of 1990. She is a multi-talented person that has served this company in every department over the years with her current duties being contract administration, accounts receivable, general ledger, cash management, accounts payable, sales tax and advertising. Lisa is presently the Corporate Treasurer and been essential in the development and growth of Atkinson & Associates Builders.

Wesley Atkinson

 

Wesley has been involved in the construction industry since 1978. He received an Associate’s degree in building construction from Texas State Technical Institute Waco in 1985. He has been employed with Atkinson & Associates Builders since 1999 and has supervised multiple residential and commercial projects. Currently Wesley is providing support as an Assistant Project Manager.

Tammy Atkinson

 

Tammy has been with us since May 1998. She currently handles due diligence research which includes investigation of access, utilities, easements, zoning, platting, and plan submittal requirements for permits through all city, county or state entities. She partakes in Planning and Zoning, City Council and other regulatory agency meetings required on behalf of our client for approvals and permits. She also establishes utility accounts and coordinates the construction of utilities for the site. She is very familiar with the municipalities of various cities throughout the state. Tammy is a valuable asset during site selection in the early development stages of the project.

Michael Weinmann

 

Michael has been in the construction industry since 1977. He has been employed with Edna Lumber Co. since 1988. He has supervised both residential and commercial projects. His knowledge, dedication, and loyalty have been a driving force in the successful completion of numerous projects. Currently Michael is providing Site Management support.
